Bodil Award 2011 – Armadillo
“It has never happened before that the Bodil for Best Photographer is awarded for a documentary. With a camera on his shoulder, Skree came home with images from Afghanistan that show the horrors of war and peace – one eye on what happened around him, the other free to think about the film’s expression. A task performed by a master in total balance.” The Bodil, est. 1948, is given by the Danish film critics.
Roos Award 2010 – “Tough guy, yet a poet”
Awarded at Ebeltoft for putting his life on the line filming Armadillo. The committee (DFI) praised his ability to live in the moment with a “7th sense” for what is about to happen; his sharp aesthetic eye across staged and real, poetic and raw; his generosity as a collaborator; and his compassion. “Yin and yang – a combat soldier, yet a graceful line dancer.”
